Richard Gere is internationally known as both a leading film actor and as an involved and dedicated social activist and
philanthropist for more than 25 years. He serves as Board Chairman of the International Campaign for Tibet and was founding
chairman of Tibet House in New York. Through both the Gere Foundation and his public charity, Healing the Divide, he
continues to be a longtime supporter of HIV/AIDS organizations worldwide, humanitarian aid and cultural preservation
organizations.
Matthieu Ricard is a former scientist and Buddhist monk who left France to study Buddhism in the Himalayas 35 years ago.
Featured in Time, The New Yorker, The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, and The New York Times Magazine, he
has served as French interpreter for the Dalai Lama and works with many influential thinkers in the scientific community on
studies of the brain and mind training. With his father, Jean-Francois Revel, he co-authored the best seller The Monk and the
Philosopher. His recent book is Happiness: A Guide to Developing Life's Most Important Skill.
