Mustang film to premiere at benefit The premiere of the Richard Gere-narrated documentary, "Mustang: Journey of Transformation," is on the program for the annual American Himalayan Foundation benefit dinner Nov. 20 at the Ritz-Carlton in San Francisco. In addition to the film about a formerly forbidden corner of Nepal, the dinner will feature a tribute to the late Sir Edmund Hillary, whose school-building work in Nepal the AHF has supported. ASPEN — His Holiness Tenzin Gyatso, the 14th Dalai Lama of Tibet, will speak at the Aspen Institute in July. The three-day event, titled “The Dalai Lama at Aspen: A celebration of Tibetan Art and Culture,” will kick off with a celebration July 24 and will feature a series of cultural events and symposiums. The Dalai Lama will speak at the Aspen Music Festival tent on July 26 Film director Martin Scorsese, the actor Richard Gere and Robert Thurman, a professor of Indo- Tibetan studies at Columbia University, will be in attendance.
